Lion's Hymn
03:54
|
|||
I am The Lion of Tallasi, come to drink your enemies blood
and wrap you up in my coat now, warm and gentle as God's love
For I know you've been crying, the things you see I have seen them too
and though death does surround us, I will wait patiently with you
And we will plunge through the days as one
should your sorrow cover you like a veil
Well I'll take thee and wash you clean in the water of the well
Now the river before me it is burning, the smoke is stinging in my throat
but if you call to me I'll cross it, cause for you there's nowhere I won't go
to the depths of the deepest dark forest, over the hot desert sand
through the snow on yonder mountain, beside you faithfully I'll stand
And we will plunge through the days as one
should your sorrow cover you like a veil
Well I'll take thee and wash you clean in the water of the well
In the water of the well

If I should die some dark and stormy night I pray for my soul to be saved
And til thy kingdom come this song I will have sung
Oh lord don't put me in the grave
Oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me in the grave
Oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me in no grave
If I should die oh lord don't put me
Some stormy night oh lord don't put me
Til thy kingdom come oh lord don't put me
Oh lord don't put me in the grave
Oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me in the grave
Oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me, oh lord don't put me in the grave, Oh lord don't put me in the grave

A Million Dark Roads
05:17
|
|||
For every child born there's a hundred more dead
For every word spoken there's a thousand unsaid
For every good man who lays down his sword
there's a million more still thirsty for war
For every act of kindness there's a hundred of hate
For every one that can go a thousand must wait
For every bright day, every scrap of hope
there's a million dark nights on down this road
So I keep on walking, there's just not much else to do
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you
For every one who gives a hundred more take
For every levee that holds a thousand more break
For every dollar made by the poor working man
there's a million spent by the politician's hand
For every act of peace there's a hundred of pain
For every voice heard a thousand cry in vain
For every life giving rain that falls to the fields
there's a million of fire, death, and steel
So I keep on walking, there's just not much else to do
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you
For every bullet burned a hundred more fly
For every bomb destroyed a thousand fall from the sky
For every monument made to the greatness of man
A million mass graves scar the land
For every one who laughs a hundred more cry
For every one who knows a thousand ask why
I see the masses, the huddled poor
there are so many now I can't count anymore
So I keep on walking, there's just not much else to do
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you
Oh I don't know where I'm going, just far away from you

If you want the moon I'll pull it down for you
Lay the stars at your door
If there's one thing I know as sure as the sky is blue
Oh I ain't gonna make you cry no more
No I ain't gonna make you cry won't be no tears in your eyes
And this I can tell you for sure
If it'll make you mine I'll lay down my foolish pride
Oh I ain't gonna make you cry no more
If you want my love I'll save it all for you
Lay my heart at your door
If there's one thing I know as sure as the sky is blue
Oh I ain't gonna make you cry no more
No I ain't gonna make you cry won't be no tears in your eyes
And this I can tell you for sure
If it'll make you mine I'll lay down my foolish pride
Oh I ain't gonna make you cry no more

If I Only Had Your Love
02:27
|
|||
I could sing your praise a million ways but it wouldn't be enough
for a kiss farewell I'd walk through hell
If I only had your love
I'd follow thee over land and sea just to feel your touch
I'd swim right through that ocean blue
If I only had your love
But I've made mistakes and now I know you have your doubts
but I've never been so sure
With each passing day I don't see your face I only love you more
I would wait on you my whole life through just to hold your hand in mine
For one so true I'd sail to the moon
If I only had your love
Yes if I only had your love

Ballad of an Actress
03:58
|
|||
Well I guess that pretty face has made you lots of friends
your life is an act, a part you play for them
they'll tell you that they love you but they'll pay to watch you fall
do you think of that when you make your curtain call
Yes I've heard the stories you tell, I've seen the tears fall from your eyes
but do you remember now which are truth and which are lies?
the you that I knew then ain't the you that I know now
All I can do is walk away while you make your final bow
But darling don't you see there's no difference, no apologies that can be made to make this right
You played your hand well, how can you live with yourself
You've got no soul to give tonight
No you've got no soul to give tonight
Now I see you've got a crowd standing in your line
you take all the sycophants and leave the rest behind
there's a child he's calling for you, a sound so sad and lost
but the only thing you hear is when the audience applauds
But darling don't you see there's no difference, no apologies that can be made to make this right
You played your hand well, how can you live with yourself
You've got no soul to give tonight
No you've got no soul to give tonight

Lines in the Sand
05:14
|
|||
Where I've been headed I cannot recall
the road I have traveled I can no longer walk
and I see a darkness coming up ahead
and I don't know if I'll ever see the light again
I see no path now if one there ever was
I see men drawing lines in the sand with their son's and daughter's blood
and I see destruction and I see death
I see so much now I don't care to ever see again
The body count is getting high
Just tell me why
Just tell me why
Just tell me why they all had to die
I hear senators they're talking in their suits and their ties
they'll buy ten million bombs, leave the starving ones to die
and I hear their lies and I hear their hate
I hear so much now I fear the hour is getting late
I hear mothers now they're crying, crying for their children
who've been sent off to wars to die by the millions
and I hear their suffering and I hear their screams
I hear so much now I wonder how I ever dared to dream
The body count is getting high
Just tell me why
Just tell me why
Just tell me why they all had to die

I Am Yours
04:19
|
|||
My dear, my dear I give my heart to you
Just let it guide you it's never untrue
through raging wind, snow, and storm
it'll see you safe inside my arms
My dear, my dear I give my soul to thee
wherever you go right there I shall be
to carry you over that broken road
any path you walk you won't walk alone
My dear, my dear I give my love to you
cause no one else would ever do
You bring hope to the blackest night
and bring calm to my restless mind
My dear, my dear I give my life to you
this bond we share no one could undo
I've been in your head and you've been in mine
I am yours for all of time
|
||||
9. |
||||
Oh my darling I've got you on my mind
I wait for you here through these long dark nights
and I would wait a million more to see you just once walk through my door
to hold you again
Oh my darling I've got your love in my heart
I will keep it there always it never shall part
and though time and distance may come and go
and spring gives way to dark winters cold
I need you to know
No matter how long you must stay gone my true love I wait for thee
Oh my darling my future is clear
I have no doubt I have no fear
I see my path it's straight and true and know it will always lead to you
for all my days
But oh my darling if you must leave
won't you pluck out my heart and take it with thee anywhere you care to go
through sun, rain, wind, and snow
I need you to know
No matter how long you must stay gone my true love I wait for thee

Down to the River
04:48
|
|||
I went down to the river to see
I went down to the river to see
they say "a man he walks on the water
a man he walks on the water"
and I say "Oh my lord, my lord"
but there was nothing for me to see
I went down to the river to pray
I went down to the river to pray
they say "he hears you my child
he hears you my child"
and I say "Oh my lord, my lord
then why don't you speak to me"
I went down to the river and cried
I went down to the river and cried
there's blood, there's blood in the streets
there's blood, there's blood in the streets
and I say "Oh my lord, my lord
there's nothing here for me
no there's nothing here for me"
